The Group Accountant will be a pivotal member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing the financial activities of all subsidiary companies within the group. This role involves comprehensive financial reporting and consolidation. The Group Accountant will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal financial policies, providing essential financial insights and support across the group.
Description
Management Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of company accounts, including month-end reports, expenditure tracking, accruals, and budget/forecast preparation.
- Identify potential accounting and control risks within holding companies and implement improvements to strengthen financial governance.
- Contribute to the group consolidation process, resolving issues with overseas subsidiaries to ensure timely and accurate management reporting.
- Review and validate monthly financial submissions from overseas holding companies to ensure accuracy and compliance with group standards.
Financial Control and Reporting
- Support the Group and UK subsidiary accountants in preparing and finalising statutory financial statements.
- Manage month-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal postings, and preparation of consolidated financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
- Monitor and analyse group-wide revenue and expense streams, covering areas such as subscriptions, licenses, professional services, and support and maintenance.
- Continuously improve financial systems, controls, and procedures to drive operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, ensuring timely preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Maintain and update rolling three-month cash flow forecasts.
- Evaluate the impact of new or updated accounting standards on the group and prepare appropriate disclosures.
- Ensure full compliance with all tax obligations, including VAT/Sales Tax, PAYE/Social Security, Corporate Tax, and Withholding Tax. As well as supporting Payroll tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide analytical and project support to the Group Financial Controller on ad hoc assignments.
- Manage intercompany recharges and prepare associated tax documentation.
- Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis to inform management decision-making.
Skills
We are seeking a fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or ICAS accountant with a strong technical understanding of FRS 102 and IFRS, and proven experience in preparing financial statements under multiple accounting frameworks. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capacity to deliver accurate financial data within tight deadlines. Experience in preparing or auditing consolidated accounts, supporting external audits, and producing management reports is highly advantageous. Prior experience with NetSuite is desirable but not essential.
