Media & Music
Our client is an entertainment company built around artists and their fans. It’s a one-stop shop for content production and fan engagement, and it’s growing fast. Working for some of the most iconic names in music, it leverages IP to drive maximum commercial value. The group creates award winning content, runs a variety of audience management platforms and creates high quality official merchandise.
The Role
This is a standout opportunity for an ambitious commercial finance professional who wants more than a back-office seat. As the first dedicated FP&A hire for the business, you’ll own budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting across the Group’s businesses and brands. You’ll give the Senior Leadership Team a clear view of how every business line, brand and artist is performing. As a trusted commercial partner, the Finance Director and wider leadership will rely on your analysis for decisions on pricing, investment, new partnerships and overall growth of the business.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting, then explaining the why behind variances to budget holders and the leadership team.
- Producing performance reporting by business line, brand, artist and sales channel, working alongside the wider team on product and channel margins.
- Developing and maintaining KPI reporting, using BI tools where it helps.
- Coordinating the annual budget and rolling forecasts, pulling together inputs from the various businesses and brands.
- Supporting long-range planning and cash flow forecasting, factoring in sterling movements and multi-currency trading.
- Building financial models to evaluate new artist partnerships, product launches and production commissions.
- Advising colleagues from other areas of the business on pricing, contracts and commercial proposals.
- Helping prepare board and executive-level presentations.
- Supporting year-end and statutory audit work, and keeping everything compliant with UK GAAP (FRS 102).
- Finding ways to streamline processes, including automating recurring reports.
- Working with international accounting colleagues to align reporting and forecasting, consolidating international results and spotting cross-group opportunities to improve profitability.
About You
For this FP&A Manager role, you’ll be analytical, curious, and commercially switched on. You don’t just report a variance, you explain what caused it and what should change. You’re comfortable running reporting and forecasting cycles independently, and you know when to flag something upwards.
Required experience and skills:
- Professional accounting qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, FP&A or a similar role.
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, including scenario models, lookups and pivot tables.
- Solid understanding of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence presenting financial information clearly to senior stakeholders and non-finance colleagues.
- An accurate, well-organised approach, with models and analysis that stand up to scrutiny.
- A real understanding of what drives revenue, margin and cash across a multi-business group.
- Initiative and a genuine commitment to the company’s vision.
- A background in media, music or merchandise, or a genuine love of music and media and a clear desire to work in the sector.
