This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading insurance group in Central London. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator and have the ability to work closely with both internal and external clients. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Credit Controller will have responsibility for processing invoices, chasing debt, and will assist the team in dealing with queries.


  • Adhere to debt collection processes and be responsible for the invoicing and credit control areas of the business. 
  • Liaise with account holders and the wider Finance teams, building relationships with the business and clients. 
  • Resolve queries from insurers, follow up on outstanding balances and ensure that ledgers are accurately maintained. 
  • Set up direct debits, and be responsible for maintaining and processing existing direct debit collections. 
  • Process client refunds, and raise credit notes ensuring that all correct processes are followed.
  • Work closely with the Finance Assistant, and ensure that all cash received is allocated accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Prepare cash allocation to support senior management and the Board of Directors with the financial reporting. 
  • Strictly adhere to the processes for write-offs and bad debts.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and supporting the wider Finance team when required. 


  • Experience in working with credit control. 
  • Experience in cash control accounts and reconciliations. 
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical, and accounting skills.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication with clarity and simplicity.
  • A self-starter with a proactive, common-sense approach.
  • Highly diligent with strong attention to detail, able to step back and see the bigger picture.
  • An enquiring mind, always looking to learn, improve and innovate.
  • Skillful manager of stakeholder relationships, able to build and maintain strong networks, whilst willing to apply challenges where appropriate
  • Insurance industry experience is advantageous, but not essential.
