Our client, a leading insurance group in Central London, is seeking for a Financial Controller to join the team on an initial three-to-six month basis. The ideal candidate will have relevant post qualified experience (ACA or equivalent), and have the attributes to lead a small team on a daily basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a broad and varied role in a leading insurance broker.

Description

  • Produce management and financial accounts, budgets, forecasts, strategic plans, cash flow analysis and FCA returns with a high degree of accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Analyse financial performance against budget and prior year in order to provide greater insight into variances at senior management and Board level.
  • Management of two more junior members of staff.
  • Primary liaison for both internal and external stakeholders including legal and compliance, HR, payroll, pensions team, tax, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide treasury support and oversee banking procedures, ensuring that all necessary financial and regulatory controls are in place, and bank accounts are reviewed and reconciled on a daily basis.
  • Manage month-end procedures ensuring all receipts and payments are allocated prior to system close and ensure that monthly reports are delivered and processed in a timely manner in line with the FCA CASS rules.
  • Liaise with external auditors and assist in the preparation of papers / resolve queries relating to statutory, client money and insurer audits.
  • Maintain day-to-day accountability for ongoing FCA regulatory compliance, including submission of quarterly FCA returns, calculation and payment of regulatory fees, and administration of the complaints and breaches logs.
  • Consult directly with the Compliance Officer concerning all FCA regulatory matters and operational and quality assurance procedures.
  • Engage with the broader business, support client retention and business development plans, and contribute constructively to team morale.
  • Other ad hoc assignments as identified by the Managing Director and Finance Director.

Skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post qualified experience.
  • Possessing an approachable, enthusiastic, can do attitude with ability to communicate with both financial and non-financial members of the business.
  • A change management and growth mindset with the ability to deliver process improvements.
  • Prior people management experience preferred.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred.
