Our client is a market leading specialist alternative asset manager, with assets under management approaching £8bn and high performance teams managing funds across both public and private investments, as well as investments in more asset backed investments.

Description

We are currently seeking to recruit an Investment Manager to join a small team with an outstanding track record of investing in smaller listed companies, applying the principals, practices and disciplines of private equity within public markets. The investment philosophy across all strategies involves a focus on business fundamentals, cash generation, constructive active engagement, and a long-term approach. The Investment Manager will assist in origination of new investment ideas and ongoing management of existing investments; conduct research and due diligence on investment ideas and prepare investment papers and proposals accordingly; and develop and maintain relationships with companies, advisers and other industry participants. The role will offer real exposure to management teams, and the opportunity to invest significant sums at an early stage in smaller listed companies, at an early stage in their growth story.

Skills

Successful candidates should have 3-4 years relevant experience in industries such as private equity, corporate finance/advisory, M&A, transaction services or restructuring and may possess an ACA qualification. Ideally you will have a solid understanding of the stock market rules including trading and regulation and have strong financial skills including financial modelling and analysis capability. Key to the role will however be a demonstrable passion and aptitude for investment, notably in smaller companies, with a curious and questioning mind-set and fascination with what makes companies work. You should enjoy building relationships and meeting management teams. Candidates must be proactive self-starters, comfortable working with minimum supervision, who are hungry and possess the drive necessary to become experts in their field. You should be attracted to working in a competitive environment where there is no hiding from personal performance.
