Description
The Finance Director will lead the financial strategy and operations, acting as a key business partner to the CEO, providing clear financial insight and recommendations. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of finance, with full oversight and control of the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, as well as managing FP&A, management reporting, and financial controls. The Finance Director has direct responsibility for a Finance Accountant and will be a key point of contact for external relationships.
Skills
- Proven track record of financial leadership in a scaling business.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate financial insights into strategic business decisions and balance growth and risk.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and credibility to engage with clients, advisors, and potential acquirers.
- Hands-on and adaptable, comfortable building processes in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial SME environment.
- Resilience and calm, solutions-driven mindset under stress.
- Significant post-qualification experience in senior finance roles, ideally within a creative, entrepreneurial SME seeking to scale up with founder backing.
- Proven track record in financial leadership, strategic planning, and operational execution.
- Understanding of manufacturing, product costings and logistics, including international trade (i.e. incoterms, forex, documentation, etc.).
- Experience in managing banking relationships, audits, HMRC and investor/stakeholder reporting.
- Strong IT skills; experience with modern financial systems and data analytics tools.
- Previous involvement in M&A would be highly desirable.
