Our client, one of Europe's leading lighting manufacturers, is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their Surrey-based Finance team. Working closely with the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will take on a very broad role with the opportunity to add lots of value and drive process improvements. As such, the role would be suited to someone with strong IT skills who is also actively studying towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, etc). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop their core accountancy knowledge working within an established company.


The Assistant Management Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Financial Controller in the preparation of monthly management accounts for the business including reporting and analysis.
  • Carrying out month-end processes, reconciliations and closing of ledgers.
  • Identifying and implementing Power BI automation into Finance activities, with the support of the Financial Director and Financial Controller.
  • Supporting stock management.
  • Reconciling company expenses including cost analysis.
  • Providing weekly reporting to the Group.
  • Performing cost analysis across all overheads.
  • Supporting the wider Finance team in managing automated accounts payable software and supporting bank payments and other ad hoc activities.
  • Managing monthly payroll.


  • 2-4 years of relevant experience within an SME.
  • Actively studying towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA etc.)
  • Strong Excel skills (Power BI knowledge would be an advantage).
  • A hands-on approach to their work.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
