Description

This major Division operates in over 50 countries and employs over 20,000 people. The business is a world leader in the design and manufacturing of highly specialised technology that is sold to a range of international blue chip and public sector clients. The newly created position will be based in the divisional HQ in central London, supporting senior management as well as business partnering the R&D business line.

Specific duties will include:

Financial support

  • Ensure the business is provided with quality data analytics that allow for data driven decision making to support revenue, profit and cash goals along with maximised resource utilisation
  • Manage the global financial planning process for one of the lines of business, covering all quarterly, annual and strategic financial plans and budgets (including cost saving targets)
  • Support the validation of large capital investment requests, benefit assumptions and post completion reviews, taking specific responsibility for analysing product warranty cost consumption and validating the accuracy of provisions
  • Review monthly R&D spend and prepare monthly analysis for divisional Board

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process for the division, including preparing consolidated information and presentation of data to senior management, including direct liaison with cost centre owners / Board members to forecast accurate costs

Other duties

  • Work with senior divisional stakeholders to design and execute management information leveraging investment in SAP enhancements and BW reporting tool
  • Maintain open and clear lines of communications between the divisional HQ and the business units throughout the world, ensuring effective communication with divisional Board members and senior stakeholders at divisional HQ
  • Drive efficiencies within Finance team and wider business, including looking for opportunities to streamline budgeting and forecasting activities through the division to ensure continuous improvement
  • Ad-hoc projects / requests as required

Skills

Technical Knowledge, Skills, Competencies and Abilities:

  • University degree or equivalent and professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical skills, using historical financial information, strategic plan or forecast data, with a record of delivering business performance improvement a plus
  • A conscientious approach to reporting and thirst for analysis and problem solving
  • Team player with ambition and self-motivation
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing skills, with experience of dealing with large global matrix organisations an advantage
  • Comfortable working with different cultures
  • The ability and motivation to solve unique and complex problems and pursue and achieve effective results which drive the business forward; able to contribute to service and finance strategy
  • The ability to work independently and manage a range of stakeholders
  • The ability to make timely decisions in a complex, global market by sourcing and analysing critical information, exercising independent judgement in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • The understanding and recognition of the organisation's commercial environment in order to support the organisation's commercial success
  • The ability to engage, challenge and work effectively with others
  • The ability to build an effective network of relationships both internally and externally, understanding their customers’ needs
  • Willing and able to identify and support change and continuous improvement in own and wider business environment
