Description

The Senior Financial Accountant plays a key role in the financial team, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller. The successful candidate will drive timely and accurate reporting to ensure that statutory and regulatory requirements are met, preparing and maintaining accurate monthly consolidated financial statements for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with IFRS. The role is also responsible for performing month-end and year-end close processes and preparing statutory financial statements as well as maintaining the general ledger by working with others in the team to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.

Compliance activity, such as supporting the external audit processes, also falls to the Senior Financial Accountant, along with corporation tax, VAT, PAYE and R&D compliance and reporting. The role is expected to provide financial insight to the wider business, analysing actuals against budget and forecast and explaining variances to support Operations and Management teams in their decision making.

Skills

Successful candidates for this Senior Financial Accountant role will have a strong background in finance and analysis, along with exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment. A professional accounting qualification is essential, ideally paired with experience working in a fast-paced SME environment. The role requires proven knowledge of accounting and financial control processes and prior experience working with IFRS, while exposure to complex consolidations and multiple currencies will be a strong advantage. Other relevant experience includes work with share-based payments, integrating new businesses, UK tax regulations and R&D capitalization. The broad nature of the role, and the need to interact with multiple stakeholders means that excellent communication and interpersonal skills must be a given.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that is set to grow considerably under the direction of a new financial sponsor. The next three years of growth will provide significant opportunities for career development.
