The group provides a range of IT and technology solutions to a variety of clients across various sectors, with a supportive private equity shareholder that has funded a number of acquisitions over the past few years. There is now an excellent opportunity to directly support the CEO in the future growth of the business, partnering across the management team to add commercial value, as well as managing the finance team.
Description
The Finance Director will provide strategic leadership to the finance function, ensuring the highest standards of reporting, compliance, and financial best practice. As a key member of the senior management team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the medium to long-term strategic agenda, contributing to the development of both financial and broader business strategies. This individual will act as a trusted adviser to the Board and senior stakeholders, offering credible financial leadership and commercially insightful analysis to support critical decision-making and drive business performance. The Finance Director will challenge plans and assumptions in a confident manner, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, while also nurturing a culture of collaboration across the organisation. Specific responsibilities include leading all aspects of financial planning, analysis, and control, overseeing the budget and forecast processes, and managing relationships with external advisers to ensure full legal and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the Finance Director will play a key role in the financial evaluation and oversight of major projects, and will be responsible for building and developing a high-performing finance team to support the ongoing growth and development of the business.
Skills
Successful candidates need to hold a professional accounting qualification and must demonstrate a track record of financial leadership roles gained in dynamic, fast-paced commercial environments. The Finance Director must bring proven experience in shaping and executing business-wide strategy, underpinned by strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, and the confidence to challenge decisions constructively. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, candidates need to be adept at building trusted relationships across executive teams and external stakeholders, while also demonstrating the leadership presence to influence beyond the finance function. The Finance Director will need a results-oriented, energetic approach and the capability to lead, motivate and transform the finance team, with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence. A sound understanding of corporate governance, audit, risk, and financial reporting frameworks is essential, as is experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments and leading through significant organisational change. Strategic and innovative by nature, the ideal candidate will combine commercial acumen with a forward-thinking mindset and the courage to challenge the status quo.
