Boutique Venture Capital Firm

Our client is a successful, boutique venture capital firm seeking to appoint a Chief of Staff for the first time. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career to take on a broad role, directly supporting both the investment team and the Head of Finance on a variety of portfolio and finance-related projects.

Description

This is an opportunity for the Chief of Staff to understand and gain exposure to every aspect of venture capital before you start to specialise in either an investment or operational capacity, as your skills develop.

No two days will be the same; however, some example responsibilities will include:

  • Portfolio Projects: Supporting the investment executives on the portfolio reporting and valuation processes, including developing KPIs and other metrics.
  • Investments: Continually improve our investment process, working with our data team to combine best-in-class decision-making with modern AI tools. Support the team on deal sourcing, review and investing.
  • Finance & Operations: Supporting the Head of Finance with respect to the accounting, reporting, financial control and audit of both the firm and its funds.
  • Investor Relations & Fundraising: Assisting with the preparation of marketing materials and data ahead of the firm’s next fundraise.
  • Projects: such as helping PortCo founders on an acquisition or bolt-on investment, and helping to operationalise and create automations within the firm’s investment process.

Skills

This Chief of Staff role will suit a graduate with an excellent academic record and relevant transaction exposure from:

  • Tier 1 Strategy Consulting Firm.
  • Tier 1 Investment Bank – M&A.
  • Big 4 Accounting firm – ACA qualified (Transaction Services or Corporate Finance team – audit trained initially is also helpful given the breadth of operational responsibility/exposure).

Moreover, you must be bright, personable and ambitious and prepared to take on a broad, ‘hands-on’ role within a small team environment.
