Our client is a rapidly growing, market leading, listed biotech business with offices in London and the USA. The company is working on finding a cure for treatment resistant illnesses, the business is leading the way in their industry/sector. Having successfully completed Phase 2, the business has entered an exciting period of its lifecycle, as it begins phase 3 trials.


Due to internal progression, a Senior Director, Controller role has been created, which will report into the VP of Finance and will be a key participant in the continued growth of Finance as the company prepares for further trials and eventual commercialisation. The position will work closely with the VP of Finance and the team in London, as well as having regular exposure to the CFO, SVP of Investor Relations, and Director of External Reporting who are based in the USA. This role will manage a Financial Controller with five direct reports, and a SOX Process & Improvement Manager. Involving support on financial operations, this person will work closely with the team on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes, and designing and implementing controls. Responsibility for tax and treasury, supported by external consultants, will also be involved, as well as working closely with the FP&A team.


The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/CA or equivalent), with experience working in biotechnology/drug discovery. Individuals must have strong leadership capabilities and an interest in working across functions to support commercialisation. Ideally, this candidate will have experience with US reporting standards, and will have worked in a growing business. This person will be excited about the sector, and the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership to grow the finance function and the business in preparation for commercialisation.
