Description
Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a broad, hands-on Financial Controller role with significant exposure across the business. The successful candidate will own core financial operations while partnering with the FD on strategic initiatives and commercial analysis.
Key responsibilities include leading monthly management accounts and Board reporting, overseeing budgeting, audit and tax compliance, and maintaining strong financial controls. The role also covers team management, treasury and cash flow oversight, banking relationships, and compliance matters.
In addition, the Financial Controller will support systems improvements, commercial projects, and a range of ad hoc initiatives, acting as a key contact for stakeholders across the business.
Skills
The successful Financial Controller candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience managing and developing a team. Candidates need to be able to demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the business. Bringing a proactive, inquisitive, and solutions-focused mindset. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential, alongside a “right first time” approach.
Candidates must be comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level, be able to manage multiple deadlines, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be flexible, adaptable, and willing to contribute across the wider finance function, supported by strong Excel capabilities.
Experience within property or a multi-entity environment would be advantageous, as would familiarity with MRI Qube and experience using Sage and/or NetSuite.
