An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Financial Controller to join a global and growing city based company in a sole role, taking full responsibility of the finance function. The successful individual will be responsible for the internal and external reporting, financial controls as well as transactional finance. The ideal individual will be available to work 5 short days a week, although the role could also be 4 full days a week.

Description

  • Preparation of individual and consolidated management accounts, dashboards, financial analysis, forecasts and budgets for UK and the US entity;
  • Production of annual reports in line with the company’s objectives and statutory requirements and liaison with the company’s auditors;
  • Preparation of forward monthly cash flow forecasts to assist the company in its consideration of financial issues, including transfers between the company’s bank accounts during the year;
  • Monitor cash flow and processing for payment of suppliers and other costs (including taxes);
  • Payroll preparation and approval;
  • Ensure the company complies with HMRC (VAT, Corporation tax and PAYE) regulations;
  • Proactive monitoring and collection of debts;
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurance and pension providers;
  • Co-ordination of all staff benefits including analysis of taxable and non-taxable benefits for staff.  Includes completion of P11D’s and other HMRC reports;
  • Check staff expense claims against policy and query if necessary, prior to processing;
  • Maintaining the billing spreadsheet, debtors awaiting invoice and pipelines;
  • Liaising with Accountants in the US regarding the corporation and personal taxes;
  • Responsible for maintaining sales and purchase ledgers;

Skills

  • Qualified accountant with previous experience in a similar role;
  • Strong understanding of financial control;
  • Relevant experience of month-end and year-end planning and closing and preparing consolidated accounts;
  • Good knowledge of sales and purchase ledgers and managing debtors;
  • Effective working to tight deadlines;
  • Track record of strong internal and external relationships;
  • Experience in an SME environment and/or professional services;
  • International experience with single and group companies accounts;
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to develop strong professional relationships with clients and company directors;
  • Self-starter and a team player committed to the successful development of the company;
