Junior Management Accountant

Our client, a highly successful and growing consulting firm, is looking for a Junior Management Accountant to join their Finance team. Reporting to the Management Accountant, the successful individual will work closely with other team members, ensuring the management accounts and the management information are reviewed by the Management Accountant. The role will be based in the office 2 days a week and 3 from home.


  • Create and send new work in progress (“WIP”) form for the month (revenue).
  • Complete WIP form and update forecasts to the end of the year.
  • Monitor WIP project share revenue.
  • Take responsibility for WIP form admin (emails, reminders, queries).
  • Produce project sums update (key project revenue and cost spreadsheet).
  • Calculate accruals and prepayments.
  • Produce the debtors schedule.
  • Update the WIP journal.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Calculate fixed assets.
  • Review the P&L ledger.
  • Review expenses postings and calculate accrual for unposted expenses.
  • Create and complete the financial results document, including monthly profit and loss, balance sheet, other graphs, and charts.
  • Sense check of P&L and balance sheet numbers and variances vs budget, expectations, etc prior to forwarding to the Management Accountant for review.
  • Discuss any issues or questions with the Management Accountant, working together to complete the final accounts to send to the Financial Controller and Finance Director.
  • Produce monthly documents (a combination of timesheet and WIP form information).
  • Query and follow up on invoicing with project managers. Escalate older queries to senior managers and directors.
  • Take responsibility for timesheet admin (emails, reminders, queries).
  • Compile and circulate cost updates against budget for all key budget holders.


  • Previous experience in preparing monthly management accounts.
  • Previous SAP experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Ability to communicate well, both in writing and in person, particularly with senior colleagues and the rest of the Finance team.
