Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Temporary Head of Regional FP&A. Reporting to the Group FP&A Director, the successful individual will bring insight, drive action focused performance reporting and connected planning, with particular focus on providing cost management insight, identifying opportunities for timely deployment of capital expenditure and supporting the development and tracking of key finance metrics. This is a key role to start ASAP and is initially for a period of 4-6 months.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this Temporary Head of Regional FP&A role will include, but are not limited to:
- Partner with the Executive Group Director on the development of regional budgets.
- Drive connected planning processes for the region, including the annual budget, five-year business plan and ad hoc scenario analysis.
- Engage Group & Site leadership, including Commercial, Operations and Delivery, to ensure planning processes are underpinned by robust assumptions that are understood and executable.
- Ensure medium and long-term financial plans are fully integrated (P&L, BS, CF).
- Review the short-term cash flow forecasts, ensuring it is robust and aligned with medium-term forecasts.
- Lead the monthly reporting process for the region, including detailed reviews with Site MDs, Site FP&A Managers and operations managers.
- Embed action-focused performance reporting against plans. Highlights key trends, quantifies commercial and operational risks and opportunities and maintains rolling forecasts.
- Assist in the ongoing development and refinement of financial and operational KPIs used to assess the success of both business and financial strategy.
- Complement the Group’s regular reporting with additional insightful analysis that enhances the understanding of operational and financial performance and tracks performance against key targets and desired outcomes.
- Lead the Site FP&A Managers and create a strong sense of belonging and pride in the team, partnering effectively with others.
- Establish best practice processes and behaviours across activities (planning, reporting and business partnering) across the region. Support Site FP&A Managers to embed this best practice.
- Support the assessment and execution of strategic initiatives, including investments (existing site redevelopment, new sites), potential transactions and joint venture opportunities. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on these matters.
Skills
The skills and experience required for this Temporary Head of Regional FP&A role include, but are not limited to:
- Qualified accountant, ideally with a Big 4 background.
- Previous experience working in a large group in a similar capacity.
- Previous experience leading and developing a team.
- Proven experience in improving MI and driving performance improvement initiatives.
- Advanced user of financial planning systems with exposure to such tools being implemented or upgraded.
- Previous experience working within a PE-backed organisation is highly desirable.
