Our client, a leading property group, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Manager with regard to a portfolio of properties. The successful candidate will be in the final stages of their studies toward an accounting qualification and have relevant financial and management reporting experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain broad experience within a high-profile team.

Description

  • Assistance with the preparation of quarterly reports and management accounting for relevant portfolios.
  • Maintenance of the general ledger for the relevant portfolio.
  • Working closely with Portfolio Accountant/Finance Manager in dealing with Investment Managers and Stakeholders on the interpretation of quarterly reports and statutory accounts.
  • Assistance with the preparation of quarterly loan covenant compliance reporting.
  • Analysis of detailed property letting information and capital expenditure to project cash and profit performance on the relevant portfolio. Provide analysis for scenario modeling regarding bank finance transactions.
  • Preparation of financial information to be presented to Investors on a quarterly basis.
  • Analysis of the financial covenants of prospective tenants to provide Investment Managers with recommendations on security levels required.
  • Assistance in the preparation of statutory accounts under UK GAAP and IFRS for UK and EU entities.
  • Working closely with external auditors in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Performance of various ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Portfolio Accountant/Finance Manager, Head of Finance, and external clients. 

Skills

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of practical accounting experience in a corporate setting;
  • Studying towards an accounting qualification - ideally finalist level;
  • Demonstrable experience in preparing journals and reconciliations;
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Excel;
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate data in a logical manner;
  • Ability to concisely and clearly present and communicate information;
  • Experience of managing conflicting priorities and working to strict deadlines;
  • Able to communicate with both financial and non-financial people;
  • Experience working with and using an accounting program;
  • Disciplined and pays close attention to detail;
  • Able to work under pressure to ensure deadlines are met;
  • Able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision but must recognise when to ask for guidance.
