Our client, an international entertainment business is looking for an interim Group Head of Financial Reporting and Control to join the team on an initial six month assignment.

This Interim Group Head of Financial Reporting and Control role will report to the Group Financial Controller and will be a key member of the team managing the group consolidated financial statements (IFRS), external audit, and all internal monthly and quarterly reporting. It will start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this Interim Group Head of Financial Reporting and Control role include but are not limited to:

  • Lead on the timely production of financial statements under IFRS (consolidated and statutory).
  • Responsible for all monthly and quarterly management reporting, including reporting to shareholders.
  • Responsible for Group consolidation of 40+ international subsidiaries including maintenance of consolidation overlays and adjustments within the consolidation system.
  • Drafting and reviewing accounting policies of the group, including advising on specific IFRS technical accounting matters e.g. share-based payments, revenue recognition, acquisition accounting.
  • Own the relationship with the external auditors and the accounting teams of our shareholders.
  • Oversee a team of management accountants across multiple locations to deliver consistent and standardised reporting.
  • Liaise with acquired businesses throughout the wider group to ensure adherence to the group policies and governance.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve internal processes and lead on system improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and controls and with external regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with M&A transactions, including purchase-price allocation accounting and integration of newly acquired entities into the group.
  • Regular contact with wider finance including tax, treasury and commercial finance teams.

Skills

The skills and experience required for this Interim Group Head of Financial Reporting and Control role include but are not limited to:

  • ACA or equivalent qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years PQE and previous experience as Head of Reporting/Senior Manager in Group reporting team.
  • Experience in leading teams and direct line management.
  • Experience in multi-currency complex consolidation, including consolidation systems.
  • Clear understanding of IFRS accounting and reporting requirements and experience in advising on complex accounting judgements and estimates.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, comfortable in working with both finance and non-finance team members.
  • Experienced in producing and reviewing IFRS financial statements and external reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills – demonstrating an ability to quickly identify and react to emerging issues.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritises demanding workloads to meet tight reporting deadlines.
  • Strong systems skills preferably including experience in large ERPs and BI tools.
  • Experience in large private/listed organisations with tight reporting deadlines is preferred.
  • Experience in M&A transactions and acquisition accounting is beneficial.
