The Financial Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role, owning the overall management of the Financial Accounting team. Reporting to the Financial Controller with great exposure to the Finance Director you will be part of the Finance Leadership team, responsible for the management and professional development of a team of experienced bookkeepers. Key to the role is to ensure accurate and timely transactional financial accounting along with driving change; taking a lead in process and controls improvement. Beyond the immediate team you will have wider engagement across the business as the finance ‘point of reference’ on business projects that impact the team and, on all systems matters. In addition, you may be asked to lead ad-hoc projects and provide decision support analysis to the Finance Director and other senior business leaders.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA or equivalent) with proven experience of leading a team in a hands-on environment or be a recently qualified accountant currently working in audit or financial reporting role within an accounting practice. You will need strong technical accounting skills coupled with softer skills that include persuasive communication and cultural adaptability that enable you to promote change in processes, controls, and general ways of working. The ideal candidate will have been part of one or more change processes and will have had prior experience working in retail or similar consumer facing business although this is not essential. Key to this role is a keen eye for detail, the ability to maintain efficient day to day running of the financial accounting team whilst being a leader in the overall change process.
Please note that due to the expected volume of applications we will only be able to respond to those candidates whose experience matches the requirements of our client. If you have not heard from us within the next ten days, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
