Financial Controller - Venture Capital

Description

The appointee will manage several funds. The day-to-day bookkeeping and reporting is performed by the third-party administrator, which will mean there will be an emphasis on review and relationship management, as opposed to accounting and production. Building a strong relationship with them and managing their output will be key. There is also a lot of exposure to portfolio companies as the appointee will be responsible for several investments and their valuations from the outset. Moreover, the appointee is also responsible for coordinating both the US and UK tax reporting, in conjunction with the tax adviser. 

Examples of the duties of the role include:

• Working with the external fund administrators to ensure the quarterly and annual fund accounts are produced accurately and in a timely manner.
• Leading quarterly portfolio company valuations.
• Review of quarterly Investor Capital Account statements.
• Preparation of quarterly management fee calculations as well as drawdown and distribution notices.
• Fund cashflow forecasting.
• Lead the annual audit process for the Funds, including valuation queries.
• Leading the UK & US tax reporting for the Funds, prepared by the adviser, but requiring detailed review and knowledge of the events in the year.
• Maintaining the fund models, Gross & Net IRR, and multiple calculations.
• Responding to ad-hoc investor queries.

Skills

We're looking for a qualified accountant who has operated at the Fund Controller or Senior Fund Accountant level within a venture capital or private equity firm.
