We're assisting an early-stage private equity firm appoint a Financial Controller for the first time. The firm invests internationally and is backed by a blue-chip investor base, with excellent returns to date. Having successfully closed it's third fund in 2022, the business is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to lead their finance & support function. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant working in a private equity finance team or administrator.
Description
This will be a broad and varied role directly supporting the Partners on all aspects of management company finance, fund finance and the operations of the business. Once you establish a good working relationship, deepen your understanding of the firm and ensure finance is running smoothly, there will be an opportunity to provide more commercial support around the portfolio, transactions, structuring, fundraising, investor relations etc. Key day-to-day tasks initially will include:
- Review and support of the preparation of the fund accounting and reporting in conjunction with the fund administrator
- Fund cash flow forecasting
- Assisting the fund administrators to prepare capital calls notifications, distribution notices and other investor communications
- Review and preparation of the management company financial accounts
- Managing the relationship with external advisors, such as the fund administrator, external accounting firm, auditors, tax advisors and others
- Managing the annual audit process
- Review and preparation of VAT returns
- Assisting the Partners with various ad-hoc projects as required
Skills
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience working in the finance team of a UK private equity firm or, alternatively, as a Fund Accountant at a Fund Administration firm.
