Description
We are helping to appoint a Financial Controller on a 12-month contract (with potential for extension), with responsibility for the financial oversight of several European entities. This is a broad, hands-on role, offering exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to lead a small team while driving improvements across finance processes and controls.

- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and MI reporting across European entities, including consolidation, variance analysis, and departmental liaison.
- Manage the month-end close process, including review and approval of journals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Act as key contact for the audit process across various European entities.
- Oversee relationships with third-party service providers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial information.
- Supervise the accounts payable function, reviewing payment runs and implementing process improvements using technology.
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements, including statutory obligations such as Payment Practices & Performance disclosures.
- Maintain and improve the financial control environment, ensuring robust documentation and review of key reconciliations and processes.
- Line management of a team of three, supporting development and performance management.
- Drive ongoing process improvements in forecasting, budgeting, and reporting through automation and the use of generative AI.
- Provide cross-functional support across the wider finance function as required.
Skills
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 8 years’ post-qualification experience working as a Finance Manager or Financial Controller in either an investment management firm or wider Financial Services group. You must be available to start immediately.
Alongside being adept in financial reporting, accounting and control, you must also possess experience in budgeting, forecasting and management reporting within a corporate environment.
