Our client is a leading body within the consumer industry. They are seeking an Interim Head of Commercial Finance to cover a maternity leave for an initial 12-month period, with responsibility for supporting c. £90m in annual revenue and spend. Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be responsible for the direct management for a team of four staff. The ideal candidate will be available to begin working in July.

Description

  • Oversee the development of the annual budget flowing from the annual three-year strategic plan, including ensuring that each department is supported and challenged on its development and is clear on the final target.
  • Oversee the development of quarterly reforecasts, to ensure close tracking of the budget and to support corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure that packs are created to enable the Board are able to approve the budgets and forecasts.
  • Oversee the production of the monthly management accounts, and present the results to the Leadership team.
  • Contribute to the strategy of the organisation and the Finance function in particular.
  • Identify cost savings and revenue opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation and externally.
  • Support the preparation of the annual report and the external audit.
  • Support the other parts of the Finance department as well as the Procurement function.
  • Identify organisational training needs and work with the Group Learning and Development team to implement training as appropriate, particularly in relation to financial management.
  • Ensure that processes are organised and documented to ensure effective continuity and resilience.
  • Support the development of the Finance Business Partners.

Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent). 
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualified experience.
  • Substantial experience providing financial support and challenge.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Proven track record in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and execute cross-functional plans.
  • Ability to present persuasively and coherently to senior management and influence decisions.
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and use own initiative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to both support and challenge all parts of the organisation.
  • Strong IT skills, including spreadsheets, planning tools and ERPs, proven record or getting the best from technology and ensuring teams effectively utilise the tools available.
  • Ability drive continual improvement to support the organisation and immediate team in delivery the strategy.
  • Experienced manager with a track record in engaging teams whilst achieving the required outcomes.
  • Adaptable team player with a positive, flexible, and pragmatic approach.
