Our client is a well-known restaurant business with offices based in central London. They are seeking a qualified Accountant to join their Finance team on an initial 6-month basis in order to support the business until a new permanent colleague joins. This role would be a great fit for a qualified accountant with at least 2 years' post-qualified experience. The successful candidate will sit within a friendly team with three indirect reports across Payroll, AP and Management Accounts. This role offers hybrid working.

Description

  • Ensure the smooth and seamless day-to-day running of the Finance department. 
  • Ensure that all internal and external reporting requirements are met accurately and on time. 
  • Ensure that all financial and tax regulatory and compliance requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Continually improve the effectiveness of the Finance department and relevant systems. 
  • Take responsibility for producing accurate and complete weekly, period and quarter-end financial reporting. 
  • Manage the Finance team and ensure maximum optimisation. 
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable function to ensure that payments are made accurately, on time and that differences are reconciled.
  • Produce the annual budget and reforecasts throughout the year including P&L, balance sheet and cash flows.
  • Take responsibility for the audit process and preparation of financial statements. 
  • Take responsibility for all tax compliance including the accurate submission of corporation tax files to HMRC as well as VAT submissions. 
  • Oversee the Payroll function (including pensions and expenses) and ensure the accuracy of payments made.
  • Continually improve and automate the firm's systems, including updating processes and controls to improve efficiency. 
  • Ensure that balance sheet reconciliations are carried out each period.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the business's insurers, for both claims during the year and the annual renewal process.
  • Ensure that utility contracts are renewed and achieve savings where possible.
  • Provide ad hoc project support as required alongside the Finance Director and other members of the Senior Management team. 
  • Business partner with budget holders to help them set budgets and monitor performance.

Skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 2 years' post-qualified experience.
  • Strong technical skills with demonstrated quality and accuracy. 
  • Commercially-minded and proactive.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Able to manage a team and optimise results.
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
