Our client is an innovative and independent hospitality business, with a number of sites across the UK. Due to natural business growth, this position of Assistant Financial Controller has been to created to support the senior management team and to provide leadership for part of the broader finance function. The successful candidate will need to embody an entrepreneurial spirit and proactive mindset to help drive the business to future expansion.
The Assistant Financial Controller will mentor and manage the AP Manager and the rest of the AP team. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing effective controls and systems and providing financial analysis for the monthly management information pack. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will support them in the co-ordination of the activities of outside suppliers of financial services, including accountants, auditors, banks, and tax advisors. This will include the co-ordination of regulatory reporting from outsourced accounting firms in the US. In addition, the Assistant Financial Controller will provide key reporting on a number of capital projects, encompassing all development and construction costs and pre-opening spending up to the launch of the new sites.
The AFC will be based in London, but will need to be flexible and able to travel to our client's sites across Britain, in order to ensure a cohesive team working environment and encourage a smooth flow on information processing as a result.
The successful candidate will need exceptional accounting, communication, and management skills as well as knowledge of relevant industry regulations and experience in establishing new processes and systems. You will be a qualified accountant with several years post-qualified experience and thorough knowledge of technical accounting principles and procedures. Sector and team management experience, while not absolutely necessary, are strongly preferred.
