Our client, a European private equity firm, is looking for an Interim Fund Controller to join their London team in a newly created role. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day financial and operational aspects of the firm's fund structures and work closely with the CFO, investment team and external fund administrators. There is a very strong likelihood that this will lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day financial and operational aspects of the firm's fund structures and work closely with the CFO, investment team and external fund administrators. Description

The responsibilities of the Interim Fund Controller role include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of fund administrators in relation to NAVs, capital accounts and financial reporting.
  • Manage fund flows, capital calls, distributions and fee/carry mechanics.
  • Reconcile all investment activity across fund and co-investment structures.
  • Prepare quarterly valuations for all investments in collaboration with the deal team, including valuation support packs.
  • Lead the annual audit process and support tax advisors in preparing filings across fund and SPV structures.
  • Support the CFO on hedging strategies where required and monitor currency exposure.
  • Assist in the implementation of FX policy and optimise returns through risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to process improvement and automation.
  • Support the onboarding and structuring of new fund vehicles and co-investments.
  • Work with relevant teams on SPV setups.

Skills

The skills of the Interim Fund Controller role include, but are not limited to:

  • Qualified accountant with 7 to 10+ years of experience in private equity.
  • Proven experience in both fund and corporate accounting.
  • Strong understanding of fund structures, LP reporting, tax considerations and regulatory frameworks within private equity.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing relationships with fund administrators, auditors and external advisors.
  • Exposure to process improvement and operational oversight.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to navigate complexity and adapt swiftly.
  • Strong process design capabilities and comfortable scaling with growth.
  • Effective leader who can build and mentor a growing finance team over time.
