Our client, a global property group, is looking for an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join their London team for an initial period of 6 months. The successful candidate will have substantial experience with service charge and property accounting.
Description
The responsibilities of the Temporary Service Charge Accountant include, but are not limited to:
- Act as the internal subject matter expert on service charge across the portfolio.
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual service charge related accounting and processes including budgets, forecasts and annual reconciliations.
- Prepare and review year-end service charge packs and manage all irrecoverable service charges and direct costs.
- Support new service charge processes for new ERP software.
- Review and support legacy cash reconciliations of service charge accounts.
- Monitor and track service charge payments, refunds and adjustments.
- Review bank reconciliations and support on service charge reporting.
Skills
The skills of the Temporary Service Charge Accountant include, but are not limited to:
- Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years of service charge accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of service charge budgeting, apportionment and year-end processes.
- Ability to reconcile bank statements with service charge ledgers accurately.
- Property accounting knowledge and familiarity with lease structures, tenant billing and property management finance.
- Strong Excel skills required and familiarity with property management systems such as Qube, MRI or Yardi.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with clear and professional communication skills.
- Highly numerate with experience delivering insight into large volumes of data.
