Description

This new role has been created to support the Commercial Finance Director by providing data, reporting, analysis and insights that will influence and guide the Commercial, Operational and Finance teams. The successful candidate will need to understand the complex requirements of the business, working with stakeholders to determine optimal solutions to support the growth of the Group. This position will be key to providing the business with data and analysis to drive improvements and recommendations. Core responsibilities are to provide robust and timely data and MI to support pricing decisions across the business, whilst creating, validating and analysing procurement and operational data to optimise strategies. The Data & MI Analyst will support the Transformation team with data and analysis on key business initiatives, enhancing existing reports as well as automating new data and reporting dashboards. The role will require data deficiencies and gaps to be identified and overcome, assisting users to interpret and utilise data and MI solutions. There is a requirement to produce meaningful data from multiple, complex data sources, developing and maintaining customer performance and profitability models and analysis. As part of the wider Commercial Finance team, the role will help provide detailed analysis and commentary on financial variations versus forecast, supporting the development of the budgeting & forecasting processes and providing variance analysis vs. budget & forecast across all business channels.

Skills

Applicants should have a strong academic record of acheivement, with a strong preference for a finance, economics, computing or mathematics degree. Previous experience of working in a finance function is essential, with a thorough understanding of P&L components, cost drivers and revenue streams, ideally reinforced with a professional qualification, although this is not essential. Experience working with big data and combining data from multiple sources will be highly advantageous and advanced Excel and data modelling along with experience using Access, SQL and Power BI is a pre-requisite. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong business acumen and commercial skills, along with the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasked and multi-channel environment. The role demands outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to build relationships and to influence across the business. Sector experience in wholesale, retail or FMCG could be an advantage.
