Our client is a highly successful FTSE250 multinational, with market leading positions in a number of sectors. The business is highly acquisitive and can demonstrate a long track record of success and continual growth.

Reporting to the Head of Tax, this role has been newly created in order to provide greater support to the business as it continues to grow. The group is highly decentralised, with local finance teams responsible for compliance with local taxation and reporting requirements and an outsourced arrangement for UK tax compliance.

Description

The role will take responsibility for various aspects of corporation tax, transfer pricing and payroll taxes, as well as a range of other tasks such as training, regulatory and governance duties and various ad-hoc project work. Specific duties will include:

  • Managing the corporation tax compliance cycle for the Group, including interaction with the Big 4 outsourced provide for UK tax compliance and building out a compliance tracker to monitor compliance across the rest of the global group
  • Tax accounting requirements at half year and year end, including dealing with queries from the external auditors
  • Exploring all tax relief opportunities e.g. R&D claims, utilisation of capital allowances, VAT opportunities etc.
  • Preparing Transfer Pricing documentation for the global group
  • Preparing quarterly management recharge calculations and working with Group Finance to answer any questions from the businesses
  • Updating interest benchmarking tables on an annual basis
  • Helping Group Finance to prepare holding company VAT return
  • Review VAT procedural compliance including answering any HMRC queries
  • Managing employment taxes including P11D and PSA reporting
  • Liaison with outsourced payroll provider and HR department on all payroll related tax matters
  • Investigate and recommend appropriate salary sacrifice arrangements
  • Tax Governance work, including supporting the Head of Tax with updating and monitoring tax policy, Senior Accounting Officer compliance and updating the tax strategy
  • Supporting training to various teams across the group to update on changes to tax legislation helping to draft a quarterly tax newsletter keeping people up to date with changes
  • Supporting Head of Tax to deal with any Tax Authority correspondence
  • Providing tax due diligence support on future acquisitions

Skills

The successful candidate will have started their career in tax, possibly looking for a first move out of public practice. Alternatively, the post might appeal to candidates with proven tax experience, who are looking for a part-time role. The role will require a well-organised and methodical approach to work, from someone able to demonstrate strong initiative and attention to detail. Working in a lean Head Office means that a collaborative approach is essential, along with the ability to build relationships quickly with others. Candidates will need to be comfortable working with various IT applications, in particular strong Microsoft Excel skills and a knowledge of the UK corporate tax regime and tax accounting is preferable, but not mandatory.
