UK Economy Delivering Record Employment

According to new figures published yesterday (16th April 2019), the UK employment rate is at its highest level since the 1970s.

The Office for National Statistics shared statistics showing that the employment rate remains at a record high at 76.1%, while unemployment remains low at 3.9%.

With the uncertainty of a Brexit deal around the corner, Alok Sharma, Minister of State for Employment said: "The UK jobs market continues to go from strength to strength, but we must not take this for granted." He went on to say that he welcomes the news that wages are continuing to rise at their fastest rate in ten years.
